Split

 

Split and its surrounding area is a must-see for all the visitors in Dalmatia. Rich in both the cultural and natural heritage, as well as the vibrant nighlife, the city offers its visitors to fully immerse themselves and to enjoy. Dioceltian's Palace and manifestations within, as well as the St. Domnius Cathedral, Peristyle, Jupiter's Temple, Statue of St. Grgur Ninski and the Gates of the Palace, everything within the Palace, and also Riva, Prokurative, Pjaca, Croatian National Theatre, Varoš, Meštrović Gallery, Fruit's Square, Bačvice Beach, Marjan hill with its Bene and Kašjuni Beaches. Throughout the city are many caffes and restaurants, ranging from those exclusive to those built in simple, local atmosphere. Further from the city are Solin, with Salona remains from the times of the ancient Romas, Klis, with its historical fortress where some of the Game of Thrones took place, Trogir, with its beautiful waterfront and St. Lawrence Cathedral, Omiš, Sinj, Knin, Imotski just to name a few...

The Islands

 

The islands play a big role when it comes to visiting Dalmatia. Croatia is known for having more than thousand islands, and those with most to offer to you are the ones closest to Split. Brač island is  50 minutes away from the Split ferry port. Zlatni rat beach on Brač island is probably the most popular beach in Croatia, and for a good reason. But Brač offers much more than just that. Towns such as Supetar, which is the island capital, and Postira, with its beautiful Lovrečina Bay and on the other side of the island is the amazing Dragon's cave, just to name a few. Hvar is the other island worth visiting with just under 2 hours away from Split. Town called Stari grad, Hvar, known for its vibrant nighlife, Jelsa and Paklinski Islands just by the "main" island are worth visiting. Further from those 2 biggest islands are Vis and small island near Vis called Biševo with the geographical phenomen known as the Blue cave...

Natural Treasures

 

Dalmatia is rich with its natural treasures, some were already mentioned before, but just in fragments. The National park that is the closest to Split is NP Krka, located in the background of Šibenik. Skradinski buk, as it's called, is probably the most known part of the NP, attracting most of the visitors in the NP. Further north is NP Kornati, a group of 89 islands of various sizes. Extremely rich in both flora and fauna, attracting the interest of divers, mountaineers and other nature-lovers. Even further north is NP Plitvička jezera, which is wort visiting as a part of one-day tour from Split. Its beautiful 16 lakes, with jaw-dropping, picturesque look represents the oldest National park in Croatia. Other than national parks, Dalmatian natural heritage consists of mountain Biokovo, nearby hills Mosor and Perun, Radman Mlinice near Omiš, Cetina canyon, Vrljika river, Vranjača cave in Dugopolje, Red and Blue lakes in Imotski, Vidova hill on Brač island just to name a few...

Cultural Treasures

Dalmatia is not just sun and beaches, it is also a core of Croatian cultural heritage. Wealth of both tangible and intangible heritage gives tourist great experience while visiting Dalmatia. Manifestations in Split (Days of Diocletian, Days of Marko Marulić, Mediteran Film Festival just to name a few), Sinj (Alka, Feast of Assumption), Solin (Solin Town day), Podstrana (Oluja), Omiš (Festival of Dalmatian song, The Pirate Battle), Klis (Celebration of st. Roko) and in many more towns throughout the whole region. On the other hand, there are places worth visiting, except well-known Split, such as Vrgorac, Bol, Drvenik, Klis, Makarska, Marina nearby Trogir, Šolta island, Sućuraj, Trilj...
